Kym’s Behind the Scenes

As we move into the Fall, a lot of things are happening with the tournament and Quail Hollow Club golf course. This is a busy time of the year for all of us as we prepare for the 2010 tournament.

The tournament staff is busy with our ticket sales and renewal processes, finalizing our creative advertising message for this year, re-working our website as well as hundreds of other items in preparation for the 2010 tournament.

The staff is very focused on all of their duties, and our goal, as it is every year, is to improve the event experience from the previous year for our patrons, sponsors, players, families and Ambassadors.

There have been some changes to the Quail Hollow Club golf course since the end of this year’s tournament. All of the bunkers were re-worked and re-shaped during the late summer to improve the golf course playability for the professionals. Some bunkers were moved, some were enlarged and some were eliminated in an effort to make Quail Hollow Club the best golf course on the PGA TOUR. In addition, there was a new teeing ground added to the 4th hole across the service road from the current tee that will make it a truly exceptional par 4.

Also, the over seeding of the golf course to perennial rye-grass will again take place in early October to ensure the incredible playing conditions the professionals are accustomed to will remain consistent when they come to Charlotte next May.

I will be traveling to other tournaments in the next few months to talk with players and their agents to receive feedback from the 2009 tournament. Any and all suggestions are taken seriously and we will react to the ones we feel will add to their experience when they return to Charlotte in 2010.
