The Volunteer Brief

Volunteers have been the backbone of many organizations in America throughout history. Our event is no different. Each year, more than 2,500 individuals come together to make up a team of volunteers who help bring the tournament to life.

The process starts in October, when all the previous year volunteers are encouraged to reapply for the upcoming tournament. Once the returning volunteer pool is gathered, the application process is opened to volunteers who had to decline positions last year due to personal engagements and to other volunteers who were unable to participate last year.

Once previous volunteers are given the opportunity to participate, Volunteer Coordinator Paula Burnett defers to the waiting list. You may be surprised to know that the waiting list to be a volunteer for the event is over 1,000 people long!

The selection process begins with initial contacts in October through January prior to the tournament. Once selected, volunteers are divided into 25 different committees. Some 120 volunteers take on leadership roles as Committee Chairs or Hole Captains who organize, schedule and relay tournament information to their committees.

Who Volunteers? Some Volunteers are golfers who participate because they love golf and want to be involved in this premier golf tournament, while other Volunteers are totally new to golf and get involved because they want to support the community and our charities.

If you’re interested in becoming a volunteer, please take a look at our website: QuailHollowChampionship.com and fill out an application for our Waiting List.

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered with us in the past, and we look forward to working with all of our new volunteers in the future!
