  • Two players are tied for the most top-10 finishes in Quail Hollow Championship history with four—Vijay Singh and Phil Mickelson. Singh was tied for 2nd in 2003, tied for 10th in 2004, won in 2005 and finished tied for 7th in 2007. Mickelson was tied for 5th in 2004, tied for 7th in 2005, tied for 3rd in 2007 and tied for 5th in 2009.
  • Joey Sindelar still holds the best finish by a defending champion when he was tied for 33rd the year after winning the Quail Hollow Championship in 2004.
  • Bubba Watson led the field in driving distance in 2009. He averaged 331.6 yards off the tee when using his driver. Last year’s tournament also marked the first time Watson made the cut in four starts. He finished tied for second with Lucas Glover
  • Lucas Glover was one of three players who had the least amount of putts per round during the 2009 tournament. Glover, from Greenville, SC, averaged 26.75 putts per round and finished tied for second.
  • In the seven-year history of the tournament only one competitor has recorded a hole-in-one at Quail Hollow Club—Jay Williamson on Hole 6 in the second round of 2008. This is interesting to note when you take a look at the overall PGA TOUR season. For example, with one official tournament remaining, there have been 36 aces recorded this year alone by TOUR players and a total of 212 aces on TOUR since 2003-- the first year of the Quail Hollow Championship. In the seven-year history of the tournament, 12,936 tee shots have been hit on the par-three holes at Quail Hollow Club. But, only one hole-in-one.
  • For seven years the final three holes at Quail Hollow Club have consistently been among the toughest finishing holes in all of golf. In fact, this year, holes 16-18 were the toughest closing stretch among all tournaments. The three holes have a par value of 4-3-4 and the field average was .87 above par. Bay Hill Club and Lodge (Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Master Card) was second with a .82 average, Muirfield Village (the Memorial Tournament) third at .80 and Hazeltine National (PGA Championship) fourth at .73.
  • Quail Hollow Club will be celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
  • Five of the tournaments champions are currently ranked among the top 30 players in the world: Tiger Woods (1), Jim Furyk (5), Sean O’Hair (16), Anthony Kim (26) and Vijay Singh (27).
